James Schulfer is an improvisational guitar player, composer, arranger, multi-instrumentalist, and writer from Ventura, California. He studied jazz at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He performs acoustic and electric works solo, plays with his jazz trio Solstice, with various Ventura-based based, his own rock/vocal groups, and with various other jazz groups.

He composes and arranges original and adapted jazz music, and works on movie and video game style scores. He has composed a two-hour tabletop roleplaying game original soundtrack, as well as other various commissions, arrangements, and compositions.

He has produced several recordings, mixed and engineered projects, both in the studio and asynchronous, produced and edited videos, and run live sound as well. Outside of music, he has also written several short stories, and works of non-fiction as well, in addition to several short works of writing on music.
